What is JUVEDERM ® Ultra XC?
Juvederm Ultra XC Injectable Gel is the latest version of Juvederm Injectable Gel wrinkle filler. Approved by the FDA, Juvederm Ultra XC Injectable Gel is specifically designed to minimize pain and discomfort during the injection process. It is a colorless, hyaluronic acid gel that is injected into facial tissue to smooth wrinkles and folds, especially around the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds). It is the filler of choice for lip enhancement because of its exceptionally smooth texture. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. Hyaluronic acid creates volume in the skin by delivering nutrients and by holding in water, making sure the skin stays hydrated. A fine needle is used to inject Juvederm Ultra XC right under the wrinkle or skin fold where it adds volume to smooth the surface of the skin.
Juvederm is the only dermal filler proven to smooth out smile lines and restore facial volume by replacing the skin’s natural hyaluronic acid which is lost during the aging process. The results of treatment with Juvederm facial filler may last up to 12 months with only one injection.

How Is JUVEDERM ® Ultra XC Different From Other Fillers?
Juvederm Ultra XC Injectable Gel is available in two formulas: Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Ultra Plus XC, which is used to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles. Both contain the local anesthetic lidocaine to provide patients with a more comfortable injection experience. Lidocaine is used to numb and relieve pain and discomfort associated with a variety of cosmetic and medical treatments. The lidocaine in each syringe of Juvederm Ultra XC numbs the injection site within seconds, eliminating the need for additional anesthetic injections and thus reducing the overall time of the treatment.
What results can you expect?
The results are immediate and very natural looking. There is little or no down time and most people return to their normal daily activities right after their visit.
How many treatments do you need?
Juvederm Ultra XC lasts up to one year. A touch-up approximately one month after the initial treatment may be required to achieve optimal results.
Things you should know:
As with any injection, you may experience mild irritation, swelling, itching, redness, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. Juvederm Ultra XC contains lidocaine, an anesthetic that makes the procedure more comfortable. A cold pack may be applied to the site prior to injection for your comfort.
How much time is required?
The initial consultation and injection process takes approximately one hour. During this time Dr. Zadeh will discuss all treatment options and procedure details with you including aftercare instructions, recovery course, and what to expect after the injection procedure. All questions you may have will also be answered. You will also be shown before-and-after pictures of other patients who have had Botox and Juvederm treatments. The actual injections themselves take about 10-20 minutes. The injection of multiple syringes may require additional time. Follow up visits for touch-ups are usually thirty minutes or less. Dr. Zadeh will provide a more precise time estimate after examining you and discussing the amount of correction you desire.
Juvederm Ultra XC has the same ingredient (hyaluronic acid) as the Restylane, and Belotero dermal fillers. It is the longest lasting of the pure hyaluronic acid fillers. This makes it ideal for people with busy schedules and costs less per year than other pure hyaluronic acid fillers.
